Meet the Team

Our team offers you a warm welcome.

Richard Ward

BDS N'cle, GDC 70599

“According to my parents, I wanted to be a dentist from the age of 8. It seemed easier to stick with this and I started at Newcastle in 1990. After qualification, I began my career in Mansfield and here, in Southwell ,1996.

In 2001, I relocated the practice from Westgate to the Ropewalk. Setting up and growing a new practice with my wife , Rebecca was challenging, particularly when our 2 kids “helped” !

I enjoy helping peoples’ confidence searching for simple solutions to their problems. Of course, we know that people can be worried about visiting the dentist...I believe that thistrust is gained over time

Outside dentistry, I have been a birdwatcher and conservationist for as long as I can remember. As a family, we watch ice hockey (and Ben plays to a high level as a netminder). More recently , I have started running 5km Park runs and some smaller Triathlons, but I can’t yet say I enjoy them”

Lee-Anne Smith

Dip Dental Hyg, GDC 6178

Lee-Anne re-joined the practice in April 2016, having first been with us back in 2003-2005 when she first qualified. She moved to Birmingham to take up the post of paediatric hygienist at Birmingham Children’s hospital. She moved back to the area in 2014 after gaining a wealth of experience in various dental settings.

“I am deeply passionate about my role as a Hygienist and especially in treatingpatients with phobias and special needs. I love treating children and teaching both them and parents about the importance of oral health. Outside of work I am a keen baker and crafter.”
